Welcome to the Governor section of our website. Our Governors are listed below along with some information about them:
Diana Diggines - Chair of the Trustees
I entered the teaching profession in 1970 and have worked in London and Hertfordshire during my career. As a Class Teacher, I taught in Infant, Junior, Primary and Secondary schools. I was a Headteacher of a Primary School for over twenty years and I have also worked for the Local Authority as an Executive Headteacher.
During my headship I also worked as a Consultant Headteacher in a range of capacities:
§ I qualified as an Ofsted Inspector
§ I worked for the Local Authority in carrying out interim Ofsted Inspections
§ I worked for the Local Authority as a Consultant Headteacher, supporting schools in challenging circumstances
§ I qualified with the Cambridge Education Authority as an External Adviser for Headteacher Performance Management and fulfilled this role for a number of years.
§ I worked for three years as a Primary Strategy Consultant Leader, working in a range of Primary Schools, in order to support the introduction of the Primary Strategy for Literacy and Numeracy.
One of my most interesting positions was that of Senior Supervisory Assistant, covering the school lunchtime, for twenty years! This involved Dinner Duties both inside and outside.
I am delighted to have been appointed as a Trustee of Hammond Academy and look forward to being able work alongside the Principal, Staff, Governors and pupils in taking the school forward.
Gail Porterfield - Trustee and Principal
I am the Principal of the Hammond Academy and am proud of our Academy’s achievements. We have wonderful children, outstanding teachers and an ethos of excellence throughout the school.
I have always worked in Hertfordshire schools and have been in Primary Headship since 1990. The move to Academy status in September 2012 has enabled the school to grasp some new, innovative and exciting opportunities which will benefit our children now and in the future.
Our expansion to a two form entry school is now firmly established with the start of the construction of the new Key Stage Two Block which will open in September 2012. This means we will soon be welcoming more children to our Academy.
As a Trustee of the Academy I am extremely pleased to be working with our other Trustees, Governors, staff and parents in giving our children the best education we possibly can.
