Computing

Computing at Hammond takes many forms; in Nursery and Reception the children can focus their skills with the use of the available technologies, including iPads and our brand new laptops in a variety of interesting and engaging ways.

This year, teachers are using a scheme of work that is tailored to the new primary curriculum. Teachers use this as a guide and adapt plans to support and challenge different groups of children in their class.

Two laptop trollies means that each child  has access to a laptop in every computing lesson, whilst we still have a range of iPads and iPad minis that are used throughout the day to support our cross curricular learning. The new technology in school means that the children can effectively learn skills such as HTML editing, producing digital music or even creating a Wikipedia page!

E-safety underpins all use of technology in school. It is explicitly taught to children and discussed in assembly time, during PSHE lessons and at other opportunities throughout the year. We take E-safety very seriously and all children are aware of the safe use of computing. If you would like to see the E-safety policy it can be found in the relevant section on the website.
